GREENE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE NEWS RELEASE

3/17       8:00 am, a deputy was advised of illegal dumping and littering after a secondary road crew reported picking up trash from a rural road southeast of Rippey. After an investigation by the deputy several citations will be issued.

11:29 am, a deputy responded to a reported suspicious vehicle in the 2400 block of Neola Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was reported to be selling a lightning rod product for farm buildings.

11:35 am, a Scranton resident came to the Law Enforcement Center to report the theft of 12 bee hives from the 700 block of 230th Street. An investigation into the theft was initiated.

12:54 pm, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a dog bite report from the Ames Animal Shelter  after the Mary Greely Medical Center reported  a female from the 400 block of 4th Street in Rippey came to the Ames Medical Center for treatment of a dog bite after she had been bitten by her neighbor’s dog. The deputy spoke with the female who stated that the dog had accidentally bitten her while they were playing outside. The female stated that the dog had previously received all of its shots and she did not wish to pursue any charges.

3:16 pm, a deputy spoke with a Grand Junction resident in the 400 block of South 15th Street about the possible theft of mail from her mailbox.

6:19 pm, a deputy while on routine patrol assisted the driver and passengers of a vehicle that was experiencing mechanical problems on 220th Street.

6:31 pm, a deputy was asked to check for debris on the roadway at U Avenue and 250th Street.

7:45 pm, a deputy responded to a dog nuisance call in the 100 block of North Park Street in Paton.

8:57 pm, two deputies assisted the Jefferson Police Department with a verbal domestic altercation in the 500 block of West Lincolnway Street.

9:31 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the bridge between 235th and 230th Street for the report of an old couch in the middle of the roadway. Several vehicles had to take evasive action to avoid striking the couch.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
