The ADM boys basketball season ended more than a week ago now, but Coach Aaron Mager continues to reflect on what he terms an “up-and-down” but also “successful” season.
A particular group of players really personifies that claim from their coach–that being the three Sloss brothers: Joe, Jake and Robby.
The trio struggled on the offensive end to start this season, but after they put in extra work during ADM’s time off for winter break, they each came back with improved games and more confidence. Coach Mager says their improvement is a testament to their attitudes.
“As a coach, you want kids to be engaged, you want kids to put extra effort forward and take things in a professional manner; take it really serious and get after it, and (the Sloss brothers) did and you can see the evidence. I always think hard work pays off and when you can show some statistical evidence of that, that really helps verify that to other kids. Here is an example of three guys who dove into it and here is the growth they made, so follow that and follow that role modeling.”
On the season, the Sloss brother combined to score 407 total points, which was nearly a third of ADM’s scoring.
And another impressive statistic: known all year for their hustle and tenacity, the three brothers finished in the top-four amongst their Tigers teammates in both offensive rebounds and steals.
