The basketball seasons for all teams in the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s coverage area have now come to an end. The final team alive—the Adair-Casey Bomber girls—lost in their state quarterfinal matchup with Burlington Notre Dame yesterday afternoon, 90-50.
The Bombers kept things close in the first-half despite 17 turnovers and trailed by just 11 at intermission, 37-26, but any chance of a comeback was silenced early on in the third quarter, as the Nikes used a 37-11 third quarter to run away.
Adair-Casey star London Vais ended her Bomber career with 23 points in her final game. Vais also collected double-digit rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season.
With the loss, the Bombers finish their 2013-14 campaign 23-4 overall.
Burlington Notre Dame point guard Taylor Hickey led all scorers in the state quarterfinal contest with 27 points. The Nikes will now take on Janesville in the second Class 1-A semifinal Thursday morning.
