Jake-ChapmanBudget discussions have been starting up in the Iowa legislature and District 10 State Senator Jake Chapman is eager to put his Iowa Trust Act into motion by better controlling how they spend the state’s money.  Ultimately though, Chapman wants to keep to the mission which is not spending more than you take in as a government body.  He points out that subcommittees have been working this week on the budget.

Now that the first funnel week is in the books for the Iowa legislators, our lawmakers have been busy starting up their budget discussions.

District 10 State Senator Jake Chapman explains that as budget talks heat up, he wants to keep in mind his Iowa Trust Act which is keeping better control of how they spend the state’s money.

“Can we predict the future over the next five years how we’re going to be able to meet our obligations.”

He talks about what will take place in the next few weeks between the two chambers.

“All of the sub-committees on the budget will be meeting to discuss targets and so the next phase of this session really deals with the budget.”

Once both the Republican-controlled House passes their version of the budget and the Democratic-controlled Senate passes their version, both will have a chance to dissect each other’s proposals before it goes to the governor’s desk for final approval.
