Those in the Dallas County who need a little extra help feeding their families this winter are invited to take advantage of a new opportunity this weekend.

A mobile food pantry will be stopping in Perry Saturday from 10am until noon.  The goal is to help families who are struggling due to food stamp cuts, while building awareness that there is a need for donations locally.

Those looking to take advantage of the service do not need to bring any documentation but they will have to answer a couple questions.  Each family will receive 15-20 items at no charge and attendees are asked to bring their own bags or boxes to carry the food.

In addition, volunteers are also needed to help out with the event.

It all takes place at Crosswords Church and is in conjunction with the Food Bank of Iowa and New Opportunities Dallas County Family Development Center.

For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, contact Karen Venture at 465-5185.
