Registrations are going on now for the second and final Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at the ISU Greene County Extension office next month.
Coordinator Michael Cooley says their first VITA program was a complete success having all 18 appointments filled and is looking for the same to happen before their final installment scheduled for Saturday, March 8th.
He states that one of the qualifications to have their Internet Revenue Service-trained volunteers to help you with your tax refunds for 2013 is that a family’s adjust gross income is no more than $57,000.
Cooley talks about other details that the volunteers can help with.
“If you do have a simple 1040 or 1040-EZ form, make sure you get all the tax credits that are coming your way and get your full refund. Especially the earned income tax credits which is something that you’re eligible for even if you’re not required to submit your taxes, something to look into.”
