Chris QuirkA Jefferson man is sentenced to a state penitentiary after pleading guilty to felony forgery charges.

31 year-old Christopher Brian Quirk was charged last fall with two counts of third degree burglary and six counts of forgery from two different investigations in which he was accused of stealing various items around the county and writing bad checks.

County Attorney Nick Martino says Quirk pled guilty to two counts of Class D Felonies for forgery and an aggravated misdemeanor for forgery and was sentenced earlier this month for up to five years in state prison.  He was also found guilty of two probation revocations with those sentences to run concurrently with the felony forgery charges.  The probation sentences were originally for unlawful use of a credit card and possession of methamphetamine.

Martino adds that Quirk is also ordered to pay restitution to five area businesses that were given bad checks on September 28th and for the items he stole from a Muir Embroidery delivery truck on September 23rd.

The other charges of theft and burglary, Martino points out were dropped by the state.
