A deputy reported that he slid on the snow and ice covered roadway striking and knocking down a stop sign in Jefferson as he attempted to turn onto Vine Street from Washington Street. The city street department was advised of the downed sign.

A deputy is investigating a reported theft of a new Android Tablet from a residence in the 900 block of Main Street East in Grand Junction.

A deputy was advised of a large branch blocking the roadway on E57 near the Raccoon River Bridge and S Avenue. The Greene County Secondary Roads were also advised of the situation.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff assisted a stranded motorist after her car slid into the ditch on 220th Street near Pioneer Avenue. The driver was not injured and the car sustained little to no damage.

A deputy was dispatched to a building site in the 500 block of D Avenue for reported residential alarm activation. The deputy found the residence to be secure and was in contact with the property owner.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff checked a reported vehicle off the roadway at 100th Street at S Avenue. The deputy reported that the car was attempting to turn at the intersection and the front wheels of the vehicle slid off the roadway.

A deputy checked a vehicle that had entered the ditch on 220th Street just east of D Avenue. The two occupants in the vehicle stated that they were not injured and were waiting for someone from Carroll County to assist them. The vehicle sustained no visible damage and the deputy advised the driver that there is a tow ban in effect.

A deputy spoke with a resident in the 800 block of East Hager Street in Grand Junction about someone in California using his identity (SSN#) to receive fraudulent federal tax returns. The deputy advised that he contact the Social Security Administration about the tax issue.

A deputy was advised of a semi-tractor trailer having mechanical problems on the roadway in the 1800 block of 220th Street. The semi was able to continue westbound at a slow rate of speed to Sparky’s One Stop in Jefferson as the deputy followed.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff was dispatched to the 600 block of S. 11th Street in Grand Junction for the report of 4 wheel ATV’s being ridden on the roadway. The deputy advised the riders that the ATV’s will be impounded if the Sheriff’s Office is called back.

A deputy assisted the driver of a semi that had stopped on the roadway on 220th Street and N Avenue with directions to a business in Carroll.

A deputy responded to a reported domestic altercation that was physical and with weapons reported to be at the residence, in the 500 block of West State Street in Jefferson to assist two Jefferson Police Officers if needed. The domestic was handled without incident by the police officers.

Friday, February 21st

A deputy while on routine patrol in Dana found an open door to a storage shed at the Juhl Feed Store. The deputy checked the building and found it to be secure and closed the door.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
