perry signPerry residents will likely see a slight levy increase in fiscal year 2015.

City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says this shouldn’t come as a surprise given the recent bond issuance to pay for several projects, including the reconstruction of the McCreary Community Center parking lot.

“We did keep it below $18, which the recorded high that Perry has had is I think $18.05.  Right now the budget is set at $17.77 per thousand” says Niebuhr.

Though there is the possibility of a rate increase when it comes to garbage and recycling later this year.

“There are some things for the council to look at coming up to June 30th to look at raising some rates one dealing with garbage and how we’re going to do recycle, which is the big change but customers won’t notice it so much other than how we’re picking it up.  So it will be a single stream more less, they won’t have as much sorting to do in their bins and then on our commercial side there’ll be a slight charge for picking up commercial cardboard” adds Niebuhr.

The public hearing for the proposed budget is scheduled for the next regular city council meeting on Monday, March 3rd at 6pm in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building.
