The Greene County Cattlemen Association’s banquet and auction is coming up next month.

President Mick Towers says their annual fundraiser will be held at the Jefferson Elks Lodge on Saturday, March 1st starting at 6pm with a social hour, a ribeye steak meal will be served by the Jefferson Does followed by their trophy auction.

Tower points out that the proceeds from the evening goes towards their various activities throughout the year which he’s very appreciative of the support.

“We really appreciate the businesses that come (and) anybody that comes and buys trophies at our auction.  Like I said, that’s where we get the money to operate on all year to the many things we do throughout the county.  One of our big ones that we really like is the scholarships that we give to seniors that show cattle at the county fair.”

Last year, the auction brought in over $13,000 with $750 automatically going toward those scholarships.

Tickets are $15 and are available at the ISU Greene County Extension office in Jefferson or from any of the directors with the cattlemen’s association.
