The ADM boys basketball team takes on Norwalk tonight in its regular season finale.
It has been a trying year for the Tigers and head coach Aaron Mager, whose team has been ever-so-close to winning more games than its 6-14 record indicates. But why might the Tigers have so many tough-to-swallow losses? The head ball coach explains…
“Generally with our game goal list–I have 11 goals–we’ve got to end up on the plus side, so six out of 11, and in our losses that have been close, in many of those we are in within one… we got five goals out of the 11. So the formula holds pretty true and we’ve just got to make the adjustments so we can do that.”
Coach Mager is hopeful his team can hit that six-goal mark tonight as the Tigers play what is essentially a tune-up contest in advance of next Monday’s district playoff game at Harlan.
While ADM certainly wants to improve this evening against Norwalk–notably in handling a team with a decided height advantage over the Tigers–Coach Mager also wants seniors Logan Essy, Jackson VerWoert, and Robbie Sloss, to simply go out and enjoy the environment of their last ever game at home.
“Those guys have all been huge pieces to what we’ve been doing here the last two years, and I’m just going to tell them, ‘hey, it’s your last home game… you’re out here to build your own legacy so do what you can to be really solid if not spectacular’. We’re looking for a solid outing of those three guys and then some.”
Pregame coverage of the final basketball game of the 2013-14 season inside ADM’s North Gym will begin at approximately 7:15 tonight on K107.
