The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce is hosting its second “Thirsty Thursday” event of 2014 tomorrow, and President Lonnie Carrick encourages all business owners and community members to attend.
The social gathering will begin at 5pm tomorrow and is being held at Shipwrecked Saloon.
Carrick says the idea of starting “thirsty Thursday” Chamber get-togethers had been in the works for several months at the end of last year, and he feels they can be of great benefit to the Guthrie Center area.
“I think (they) help build the community-base a little bit better with local business owners. We get together to throw ideas around or just have simple conversations about how things are going in general. We can build a sense of camaraderie amongst all the local business owners to continue move forward with the momentum that we’ve got going on here in Guthrie Center.”
For Carrick, social gatherings like “Thirsty Thursday” are at the very least a great way to simply start “conversations” that may or may not turn into something more for the community.
Last month’s first “Thirsty Thursday” had a turnout of over 30 Guthrie Center business leaders, and Carrick says he expects the event’s popularity to continue growing as more and more people get involved.
