imagesAn Adair County resident will spend 10 years in prison after a U.S. District Court judge sentenced him for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The 10-year sentence of 49 year-old Jason Shane Steckelberg of Fontanelle, also includes three years of supervised release once he is out of prison.

According to U.S. Attorney Nicholas Klinefeldt, Steckelberg obtained the methamphetamine in South Omaha, Nebraska before bringing it back to Adair County for redistribution.  He was stopped by law enforcement on April 3rd, 2013, with over 125 grams of pure methamphetamine and cash located in his car.

Steckelberg pled guilty to the drug trafficking charge November 1st

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement led the investigation that resulted in Steckelberg’s arrest.
