basketball thru hoopFor just the second time this season, the ADM boys basketball team has won back-to-back games.  The Tigers defeated Perry and Boone late last week to pick up two conference wins, and they now sit at 6-12 overall entering tonight’s contest against Carlisle.

Head coach Aaron Mager says his team’s resiliency in pulling out a gritty road win at Boone was great to see, but he was even more impressed with his team’s win against Perry at home.  Coach Mager explains why.

“Redeeming a loss to Perry–anytime you can come back the next time around, improve and beat a team, especially putting up 82 points, that’s a good thing.  We shot really, really well that night too… from the floor we were 56% field goal percentage, from three we were at 40% and then from the free throw line we were at 63%, so it always helps when you can shoot it that well.”

Coach Mager says he’d love to see his guys shoot it tonight the way they did against Perry, but that’s not the crucial ingredient to a road upset this evening.  Coach Mager says stout defense in slowing down a talented Carlisle offense is his true key to a win.

“Defensively we have to be sure we finish possessions out.  If they do miss–which you hope they don’t shoot a great percentage by us contesting shots–if we can get the rebound secured, get out and run and get some opportunities in transition ourselves, that’s always best.  You’ll get some easy baskets that way or at least that’s the plan.”

A win tonight for the Tigers would give them their longest winning streak of the season.  We’ll see if they can make that happen 15 minutes following the conclusion of the girls’ contest.
