Greene and Boone County ISU Extension offices are partnering to host the first of two ag marketing meetings at the Leonard Good Community Center in Ogden later this week.
Greene County Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says this free meeting will kick-off their programs about crop coverage and market outlook series before the planting season begins for area farmers and crop producers.
He points out that the special guest speaker is ISU Extension farm management specialist Steve Johnson. Cooley comments that Johnson will be talking about revenue protection decisions with the latest information on crop insurance coverage as well as information relating to the newly passed farm bill.
He encourages everyone who interested in the farm bill details and what Johnson thinks from an unbiased point-of-view should attend the meeting.
“There were certainly some adjustments in the amounts of dollars that were put towards some of that especially direct payments and other forms of revenue protection for farmers. But it’s something that I would definitely plan on attending if you’re interested in hearing someone who’s certainly an expert in the field.”
It will start at 6:30pm with light refreshments served. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. The program is sponsored by West Central Cooperative and Iowa Farm Bureau.
