Jefferson resident Jerry Roberts was recently selected as the Northwest District Elk of the Year.
Roberts has taken on many roles within the Elks organization both at a local and regional level. He has been a member of the local chapter over 50 years and has served as Inner Guard, Lecturing, Loyal and Leading Knight and Exalted Ruler. At the regional level, Roberts served as Northwest District State Vice President from 2010-11, Esquire to the District Deputy from 2011-12 and most recently as District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler from 2012-13.
He is currently the coordinator for public relations, auditing and accounting and government relations for the Jefferson Elks Club. Roberts is a retired United States Air Force veteran and is the chair of the Jefferson Elks Veterans Affairs committee.
In his other volunteer activities outside of the Elks, Roberts is on the Board of Directors for Genesis Development, is a member of the Iowa Odyssey and co-founded the Greene County Community “Impact Award” for volunteerism.
The announcement came at a recent district vice president’s meeting in Jefferson and Roberts is now a candidate for Iowa Elk of the Year which that award will be announced in April at the State Elks Convention.
