lake panoramaThe October through mid-January antlerless deer hunting season is officially complete in the state of Iowa, and we have a final bow hunting and muzzle-loader hunting update on the number of deer removed from the herd at Lake Panorama.

According to the LPA, 154 antlerless deer were taken from the lake area this season, which is the most ever removed.  In total, there were 164 animals taken from the development.  At Lake Panorama, the hunting of antlered buck deer is allowed, but only as a reward for successful doe removal.

The LPA says many of the 154 does taken from the lake this year were donated to the Hunters United to Stop Hunger (Hush) program, which takes donations of deer and processes the meat to give to food banks and other charities.

According to the Association, deer hunting is allowed at the lake in order “to maintain a level of deer that is both healthy and safe for the herd population and residents of Lake Panorama.
