More than 300 people have pre-registered for the original bike ride this weekend, and many more are expected to sign up at the event.
The Bike Ride to Rippey officially leaves Perry tomorrow morning at 10am.
Perry Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Wilson reminds residents that bicycles will slightly interrupt vehicle traffic for a while.
“We are going to close down Willis from 1st to 3rd Street, right there on the boulevard from about 9:30 until about 10:15ish. It’s very quick but that’s where we’re going to assemble the start of the ride, right there on the corner of 2nd and Willis. We’re going to send them up 2nd Street. The road won’t be closed but we highly encourage you stay off the road from about 10 to 10:30. We’re going to take them all the way to Park, out to Park Street and then we’re going to turn them up on to Highway 144 to the county roads there. So if you can, avoid that with vehicle traffic if at all possible” says Wilson.
So whether you’re up for a 24 mile bike ride in the cold or not… Wilson encourages everyone to come join in on the fun.
“If you’re a local and you don’t want to ride, you just want to see these great people, do it. It’s a great opportunity to meet some characters, I guarantee you’ll meet a new friend. Come buy a shirt or buy a koozie or whatever it is, it’s a great way to support Perry.”
All proceeds from BRR go to support Chamber programs. Day of registration will be available beginning at 8am for $35 and the Lions Club breakfast will be served in the Hotel Pattee.
