ADM’s girls basketball team rolled by the Carroll Tigers on Tuesday by a final score of 71-16.
Tomorrow’s game though, well it won’t be nearly as easy.
Coach Brett Watson’s team squares off against highly-ranked Ballard in another Raccoon River Conference matchup, and he believes the Bombers will be gunning for revenge against his Tigers given what happened in the two teams’ first game back on December 20th–a thrilling, two-point ADM upset.
“They’re going to be fired up to play us, no doubt about it. They’re still playing the same type of basketball where they’re going to sit (back) in a wide 2-3 zone, so we’ll have to make sure we pass the basketball around and make shots. We’re going to have to make some big plays and we’re going to have to step our game up.”
Since the Tigers’ upset over Ballard, each team has surprisingly gone in opposite directions in terms of wins and losses. ADM is 3-7 since its win, whereas the Bombers have recovered from that defeat and won eight straight.
Coach Watson believes a fast start is crucial for the Tigers tomorrow if they want to knock off Ballard for a second time this season.
“Ballard is going to come out and try to throw some punches at us right away, and we need to make sure that we can not only take (those punches), but that we’re ready to throw our own. The big thing is we want to show that what happened in December wasn’t a fluke.”
As usual, tip-off of the girls contest tomorrow night is scheduled for 6pm. We’ll have pregame coverage starting at 5:45 on K107.
