At 11:55am this morning, the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue Department, Jefferson, Paton and Ogden fire departments, the Greene County Sheriff’s office and the Boone County Emergency Management Services responded to a hoop structure fire at 2209 230th Street and V Avenue just south of Grand Junction.
Smoke was bellowing out of the structure due to the high winds, covering the gravel road that goes right by the residence where the structure was located.
While on the scene, sheriff’s deputy Nathaniel Chapman told Raccoon Valley Radio that no humans were injured in the incident and that a few livestock may have perished in the fire.
While an exact cause hasn’t been officially determined, Chapman believes the fire may have been started from a heat lamp inside the building.
Fire personnel are still fighting the fire at the scene, but we’re told that motorists should avoid the area.
Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
