ADM’s boys and girls basketball teams both played in thrilling contests last night against the visiting Pella Dutch, with the girls coming out victorious late and the boys falling just short.
To start off the varsity doubleheader, the ADM girls ended a six-game losing streak by knocking off Pella 45-44.
In what was a game of runs, the Tigers found themselves trailing by two with inside a minute remaining when senior Kendra Chapman hit the biggest three-pointer of ADM’s season and of her career. After a long possession, Chapman hit the go-ahead three with 35 seconds left from the left wing, and the Tigers somehow held on in the game’s final moments to pull out the win.
Molly Jacobsen led the Tigers in scoring on the night with 14 points.
Following the girls’ close contest, the boys were unable to summon similar late-game magic, as they fell 61-58 to the Dutch.
The Tigers led 46-44 entering the fourth quarter, but relinquished that lead early on in the final stanza. ADM then fouled over the game’s final minute to extend the game—and it worked. The Tigers had two chances to tie in the final five seconds of the contest, but Robbie and Joe Sloss’ three-point attempts both came up short.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the ADM boys, who fell to 3-10 on the season.
