Two deputy’s and the Churdan Fire and Rescue responded to a reported vehicle on fire inside of a garage at 404 Bell Street in Churdan. The car which is owned by Craig Burbank of that address was pulled from the garage and extinguished. The car sustained major damage with only smoke damage to the garage.
A deputy responded to a car-deer accident that occurred south of Jefferson near the river bridge. A 2011 Chevrolet Traverse which is owned and was driven by Larry Dean Monthei of Cooper, Iowa, was northbound on N Avenue when a deer ran onto the roadway and struck the Monthei vehicle in the side. There were no injuries but the Monthei vehicle sustained an estimated $2500 in damages.
A deputy was asked to help mediate a domestic verbal altercation between a married couple.
A deputy was advised of a Churdan resident reporting a single gunshot being heard from her residence. Upon the deputy’s arrival he was not able to determine the origin of the reported shot.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
