The Lake Panorama Association is advising residents to be aware of the embargoes likely to be placed on lake streets sometime in the next couple of months.
The LPA Maintenance Department embargoes streets almost every year due to thawing conditions toward the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Soil conditions under the LPA roads’ sealcoat surface become saturated during the thaw, and the rock base of the roads are then not capable of supporting heavy loads.
If lake residents are considering deliveries of construction materials, furniture, propane or anything requiring more than a pickup truck to deliver, the LPA advises making those delivery plans prior to the spring thaw.
The street embargo limits vehicles to five tons in weight, and in past years, it has been put on as early as February and as late as early April. The LPA says the length of any embargo is dependent on weather, temperatures and drying conditions.
Any residents with questions about the lake’s road embargo policies can contact the LPA Office at 641-755-2301.
