The Churdan Public Library is coming off a busy month in December and looks to stay busy in the coming month.

Youth Services Director Marilyn Tilley says in December, they had a Christmas-themed party for all the preschoolers during one of their story times on December 18th.  Plus, all the preschools sang holiday carols and had a “Grinch” style party with the Paton-Churdan National Honor Society members.  Earlier in the month, there were candy-making classes for 5th-12th graders and a magician visited the library.

Most of the programs, adds Tilley were made possible by the Communities 4 Children and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children neighborhood/Community Network Mini Grants.

On December 14th, the library kicked off its first fundraiser event for its building expansion project and included several area winners for donated gift baskets.  Winners include Bill Gebhart, Kristin Hoyle, Jeff Lamoureux, Janice Tilley, Jesse Sanders, Sydney Koch, Ron Brooks, Ann Gemberling and Sue Wind.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the building project can contact the library at 515-389-3423.  Tilley notes that the next fundraiser will be on Tuesday, January 21st for a spaghetti dinner before the Paton-Churdan home basketball game against Ar-We-Va in the cafeteria.
