Local business owners now have less than two weeks remaining to apply for the state’s Business Property Tax Credit that was established as part of a 2013 bill signed by Governor Branstad.
The credit is available for certain commercial, industrial and railroad property owners. Agricultural and residential property owners are not eligible to receive the credit.
Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck says his organization is willing to help any local business owners that need help submitting an application for the property tax credit, and he explains how much qualified property owners could expect to receive.
“It will… I think they’re saying average about $520 per applicant. There is a limited dollar amount that goes into it so part of depends on how many people actually apply. If everyone out there apply it might be less, if not many people apply then it might be more.”
Applications for the tax credit must be submitted to the local County Assessor’s Office by no later than Wednesday, January 15th.
