lake panoramaThe October through December antlerless deer hunting season is almost complete at Lake Panorama, and General Manager John Rutledge says the Association remains ahead of its 2012 pace in regard to cutting down the deer herd.

Through the end of November, around 100 deer had been harvested, and Rutledge brings us up to speed with where the Association now stands.

“We’re about 10% above last year’s harvest, and that’s even though I think this year was a little tougher for weather than what 2012 was.  As of the 18th, we had taken 124 antlerless (deer)… same time last year we had taken 111.  So we’re happy with the numbers, and there is still some muzzleloader season left, and then anybody who is brave enough can go back out and use their archery tag… we may hit 150 but we’re pleased with the number.”

The Association again reminds members that hunter vehicles must be identified with LPA window information, and hunter stands must be identified with the proper information as well.

According to the Iowa DNR, the late archery and late muzzleloader seasons both end on January 10th.
