recycling schedulesStarting in January, Greene County will be switching to a dual stream recycling program.

Recycling Agency Chair Dick Pound says residents of the county will no longer have to separate their recyclables into four groups.  Now all you have to do is on your day for garbage pick up, place all paper products, including cardboard, into one recycling bin and everything else in another bin, which includes cans, plastic and clear glass.

However, beer, soda and pizza containers will not be accepted due to those items possibly contaminating other recyclables.

Pound points out other cities and counties who have made the switch and that this new system will make is easier for staff at Genesis Development to sort through materials in the next step of the recycling process.

The decision to switch to the new program came after a February survey by county households he adds.

Recycling happens the same day as your normal garbage pick up day.  For a list of when your city has recycling, please click on the image above.

Pound states that those who need an extra recycling bin, may pick one up at your local City Hall free of charge.
