A long-time member of the Greene County Medical Center will be retiring at the end of the year.
Chief Nursing Officer and Public Health Director Cindy Kail has dedicated 28 years of service to the medical center. She first came to GCMC as a staff nurse in 1977 and briefly spent time at the Webster County Public Health Department before coming back to GCMC in 1987 as supervisor of the public health department.
Since 1989, she has been the director of the public health department and from 1995-2011, she also served as GCMC’s associate administrator. Then in 2011, she took over the role as chief nursing officer, one of only three administrative positions at the hospital through UnityPoint Health in Des Moines.
In 2005, she was recognized by Iowa Nurses Association as one of “100 Great Iowa Nurses”
A retirement reception is planned for her on Monday, December 16th from 2-4pm in the public health education classroom at the medical center and it is open to the public.
