ADMThe ADM wrestling team will take to the mat for its first match of the 2013-14 season tomorrow night against Ballard in their home gym.

First-year head coach Justin Schmauss says his wrestlers have continued to improve during their first three weeks of practice, but he… and they… are itching for some competition.

“Things are going according to plan, and we’re just ready to get into the season.  Those first few weeks are basically the preseason to me… there is no competition.  You’re really just trying to mold your team and try to get them ready for competition.  Once you start getting in the swing of things, then you can start determining what your guys need to work on, their strengths and weaknesses and really start developing the wrestler a lot more once you see the competition.”

Schmauss says the conditioning level of his wrestlers has seen the greatest improvement over the season’s first weeks.

As for expectations in tomorrow night’s first dual meet, Schmauss wasn’t hesitant in saying he expects to open the year with a win.

Schmauss says if his wrestlers can stick to their confident mentalities and prepared gameplans, a win should be obtainable.
