TOY DRIVE FOR JEFF FDThe Jefferson Fire Department is teaming up with the Casey’s General Stores for a local toy drive.

Fire Chief Randy Love says donation boxes are available at both Casey’s locations in Jefferson along with one collection box at City Hall.  Anyone can bring their newly purchased, unwrapped toy to any of those locations until December 18th and all the toys will be given to local, less-fortunate children.

He talks about how they got the idea to do a first-ever toy drive.

“They have Toys for Tots and we’ve always thought about that.  Casey’s in Woodward is joining up with their fire department and doing this “kids for toys” thing.  So we decided that would be a very good idea for our local kids.”

Love adds that as long as its child-appropriate, any toy will do.

“It doesn’t have to be anything real spectacular and a kid will appreciate something real small compared to something real big.”

Toys will be accepted until December 18th and will be distributed to area children prior to Christmas Day.  Love hopes everyone gets involved in helping less-fortunate kids enjoy the holiday season by giving a toy to them for Christmas.
