Three people were hospitalized after crashing in a single-vehicle rollover in northern Guthrie County shortly before 5pm on Thanksgiving night last week.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 42 year-old Robert Ivy of Alabama, was southbound on Juniper Ave just west of Bayard, when he lost control of his 2002 Dodge Ram at the intersection with 105th Street and entered the east ditch.
Upon entering the ditch, Ivy’s vehicle rolled over and ejected his two passengers, 32 year-old Regina Forkner and 17 year-old Kimberly Murphy.
The accident report shows Ivy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, though he refused an alcohol test at the scene. Ivy has been cited for Failure to Maintain Control, Failure to Wear/Maintain Safety Belts and he also received a citation for an Open Container.
Ivy and his two passengers were all transported to area hospitals to be treated for “non-incapacitating” injuries sustained in the crash. Ivy was transported to Guthrie County Hospital via Bayard EMS, while the 17 year-old Murphy was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll via Panora EMS. The accident report shows Forkner was transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines via Mercy One helicopter.
Our attempts to get in touch with each respective hospital to check on the condition of those involved has been unsuccessful at this time.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Ivy’s Dodge Ram is estimated as a total loss with damage in excess of $10,000.
