The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday.
County Central Point Coordinator Diane Jackson updated the Board that she had a meeting with the newly established, four-person Mental Health Regionalization Board about the four counties 28E Agreement between Greene, Guthrie, Audubon and Dallas.
Then Drainage District Supervisor and I.T. Management Michelle Fields received the Board’s permission to inquire from other I.T. department heads about dealing with their website network spiking every 30-seconds and she also received information from Hudson Law Firm regarding a drainage issue brought up by Steve Zimmerman a few meetings ago that said because it is a private matter, Greene County doesn’t need to be involved.
The Supervisors also had continued discussion about all-terrain vehicles on gravel roads in the county.
County Recorder Marcia Tasler says when Webster County passed its ordinance allowing ATV’s on gravel roads, they also came up with a system that they have to have a DNR license plate for it to be a registered vehicle and that the fee would be about $10. Supervisor Chair John Muir doesn’t want an ordinance that’s just going to open up the roads as a trial system and requested making the fees more expensive for those who want to ride their ATV’s as a recreational vehicle.
Sheriff Steve Haupert brought up how it may be enforced from the county’s and the different city’s perspectives depending on how an ordinance may read. He noted that all the DNR Enforcement Officers were in favor of the state coming up with an ordinance for ATV’s. Again, the Supervisors did not take formal action on this issue.
There was more discussion about installing computers in law enforcement vehicles. Both a laptop and tablet were brought up and comparing the two systems. It was recommended that Sheriff Haupert talk with each deputy and find out which one they would rather have before the county purchases them. Sheriff Haupert said he would like six vehicles get installed with computers in the coming year. The Supervisors didn’t take action on the topic.
Vaughn Bauer’s expansion project was discussed about there possibly being a tax abatement for his new expansion in Paton. Vice-Chair Guy Richardson commented that they need to have a policy in place for expansions like Bauer’s in the future so that every request is dealt with in the same matter.
Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss requested that the county purchase a backhoe from John Pimple at a value of $82,000 to replace an older model.
