The Perry Bluejay basketball team defeated Woodward Academy Monday night in the season opener 77-61 at the Perry Pavillion. Five different Bluejays struck double figures with sophomore Shammond Ivory leading the way with 17 points. Zach Roberts and Cavan Finn 14, Ben Daniels 12 and Will Whiton 10. Roberts scored 11 points in a 35 second span after connecting on three straight three pointers on consecutive trips down the court. Perry led 35-30 at halftime and pulled away in the second half. The Knights were led by Clifton Walker’s game high 23 points. Perry will host Carlisle Friday night at the Perry Pavillion with tipoff at 6:00 with the girls. Woodward Academy host Ogden tonight.
