All mayoral candidates ran unopposed and all were voted to remain mayors for each community. Grand Junction’s current mayor, Gerold Herrick received 40 of the 49 total votes, Joleen Killeen will stay in as mayor of Churdan with 88 of the 96 total votes, Paton Mayor Joseph Bindner received 20 of the 22 total votes, Rodney Walker was re-elected as mayor of Scranton with 55 of the 80 total votes and Rippey’s current mayor Daniel Brubaker, will remain as mayor receiving all 14 of the votes.
The Jefferson City Council will add one new member in January with current member Bill Figenshaw retiring, that left District 3 wide-open and Harry Ahrenholtz defeated Matthew Roberts 258-117. Larry Teeples ran uncontested for District 1 and won easily with 334 votes while Gary Von Ahsen will serve as the At-Large defeating challenger Brandon Gustoff 274-119.
Jefferson saw an 11.96% voter turnout.
Other races had write-ins deciding who their next council members would be. In the City of Grand Junction, incumbents Darren Jackson and Pierre Kellogg will continue to serve with 43 and 37 votes respectively while the third At-Large seat went to Teresa Lansman as a write-in candidate with 11 votes and Larry Pote captured the At-Large Vacancy seat with 12 write-in votes.
In Churdan, Jason Stauffer was re-elected to the Council with 74 of the 198 total votes for one of two At-Large seats while the other one went to Nate Byerly, a write-in candidate who picked up 46 votes.
Paton race had two available At-Large seats and it was completely decided by write-in votes. Matt Fox won with an overall tally of nine votes and the other seat will be filled by Kevan Hoefling.
The other two races each had its incumbents get re-elected to their respective councils. In Scranton Randy Winkelman and Marilyn Jacobsen won with 78 and 44 votes respectively and Ethel Subbert had 61 votes to be elected to the current vacancy on the Council. The two At-Large Rippey City Council seats were both filled by re-elections of Garry Higgins with 14 votes and Gail Monthei with 13 votes.
