Visitors from across the country will be in Iowa and coming through Jefferson today.

Women Food and Agriculture Network’s National Conference will be in Des Moines from Wednesday, November 6th through Friday, November 8th with about 200 participants.

A local farmer and activist Chris Henning of Jefferson says there will be a tour of about 25 members that are visiting different towns to see how small sustainable agricultural businesses are vital to its communities.

She states that the tour includes stops in Woodward, Madrid and a couple of locations in Jefferson with Greene Bean Coffee and Angie Tea Garden.  Plus, Home State Bank will have its female agriculture department join them when the tour arrives in Jefferson.

Henning explains the importance of having an agriculture female network for other women to be connected to those who understand how to use their farmland and what they can go to keep it a sustainable product.
