The 15th Annual Jefferson Rotary Club auction and charity fundraiser dinner is this weekend and it has a tropical theme.
President Tim Christensen says there’s usually a wide range of auction items from week-long trips like this year to Hawaii and Key West in Florida, to Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball games to home appliances and homemade pies, there’s something for everyone.
Christensen adds that all the proceeds from the auction and meal will go back to the community in various ways. He states that funds in the past have been given to the middle school for its signage, all the county libraries have received funds, along with the most recent project of the pavilion that is on the Thomas Jefferson Gardens property on the southeast corner of the downtown square, plus a number of other projects and organizations.
Last year’s auction, notes Christensen, brought in over $25,000 and he’s looking for more to be raised this year.
The auction and meal is on Friday night at the Elks Lodge in Jefferson and meal tickets can be purchased from any Rotary member for $30. Plus participants are encouraged to wear tropical clothing but not required.
