A deputy checked the report of cattle along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Paton. The owner was notified and the cattle were returned to the pasture.

A deputy responded to a reported one vehicle property damage accident that occurred at the Casey’s General Store in Scranton. Brian Bernard Pryor of Carroll, Iowa, was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra K 1500 pickup that is owned by Pemble Digging and Drain Service Inc. of Scranton, when he reported the brakes on the truck failed when he was attempting to park next to the store and the truck struck the side of the building. The Pemble truck sustained an estimated $750 in damages and $1500 to the wall at the Casey’s General Store.

A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with the report of a possible stolen pickup truck from Bomgaars. It was later determined that the truck was driven away by mistake.

A deputy assisted a towing service with retrieving an unoccupied vehicle experiencing mechanical problems on 220th Street (Highway 30) west of X Avenue.

A deputy was advised of a small brush fire in the 400 block of Irving Street in Scranton. The owner of the property was asked to please extinguish the fire due to the burn ban still in efect. Effective 7:00 A.M. Friday November 1st the burn ban will no longer be in effect.

A deputy is investigating a hit and run accident that was reported by Tami Renae Minnihan in the 600 block of Jay Street in Churdan. The 1999 Buick owned by Minnihan sustained major damage to the passenger side of the car. Tami Minnihan is not sure when or where the accident may have occurred.

While investigating the hit and run accident from the previous case, several deputies at the Paton- Churdan School parking lot were informed by an administrator at the School of a possible intoxicated parent that was in the school building to pick up her son. After the deputies investigation they subsequently arrested Melissa Ann Sanem of Churdan for OWI 3rd and subsequent offense, driving with License Revoked and driving a motor vehicle while barred.

Friday, November 1st

A deputy was asked to check the identity of a male driving around Scranton taking pictures of certain properties. The male was located and was found to be a certified real estate appraiser.

A deputy is investigating a careless driving complaint in Dana.

A deputy was advised that the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue were dispatched to Neese Inc. at 303 Division Street East in Grand Junction for a reported fire. The fire was contained to a pickup truck that was parked in the east shop area. A damage estimate to the truck and the shop is not known at this time. The fire may have been caused by electrical problems within the truck.

A deputy is investigating the report of harassing phone calls being placed to an out of state person by a Scranton resident.

A deputy was asked by an out of county resident to check a home that he owns in Grand Junction for persons illegally trespassing onto his property.

Saturday, November 2nd

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle on 220th Street and Kirkwood Avenue. A 24-hour towing tag was placed on the truck.

A deputy was dispatched to V Avenue and 330th Street for the report of cattle on the roadway. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was also advised of the location of the cattle.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was informed by dispatchers from the Carroll  County Sheriff’s Office that Carroll County had dispatched a Carroll County Deputy and  Emergency Medical Services and Fire units from Coon Rapids to a reported one vehicle  accident with personal injuries on A Avenue near 330th Street. A Guthrie County Deputy and EMS from Bayard were also dispatched to the scene. Upon the Greene County Deputies arrival  both the driver and his passenger were already transported by Guthrie and Carroll County EMS units to a Carroll County Hospital for further evaluation. Michael Keith Klingenberg of Bayard, Iowa, was southbound on A Avenue when Klingenberg reported that he fell asleep and his 1993 Dodge Durango entered the east ditch. The vehicle struck a farm field drive causing the Durango to pivot 180 degrees and came to rest facing north. The Klingenberg Dodge Durango was estimated to be a total loss. The condition of the driver and passenger is unknown at this time. The accident is still under investigation with charges pending.

A deputy was dispatched to a reported one vehicle rollover accident on 160th Street one half mile west of S Avenue. A 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer that is owned by Timothy David Tucker of rural Jefferson was being driven by fifteen year old Trey Darwin Tucker also of rural Jefferson, was westbound on 160th Street when it was reported that Tucker lost control on loose gravel and rolled the vehicle into the south ditch. Trey Tucker was not injured but the vehicle was estimated to be a total loss. The accident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s office at this time.

A deputy assisted a family in Dana with finding a misplaced Nexus 7 tablet that was thought to be stolen.

A deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction for a reported assault. Upon the deputy’s arrival, the two male subjects that were involved in the assault had left the area and were reported to be in Jefferson. Two Jefferson Police Officers did find and subsequently arrest Chance Michael Milligan of Jefferson and Zachary Dennis Milligan of Fort Dodge for Assault Simple.

Sunday, November 3rd

A deputy was advised that a Rippey resident was receiving harassing phone calls from her ex-boyfriend. The deputy did contact the male subject and instructed him to not have any communication with the female.

Members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Fire Department, Churdan Fire Department, Scranton Fire Department and concerned friends and neighbors helped search for a 13 year old girl that had walked away from her home in the 1300 block of K Avenue. She was found by a search team some 3 hours after her disappearance in a wooded area close to her home. She was a little cold but otherwise unhurt.

A deputy checked the report of a suspicious vehicle on Neola Avenue near 300th Street.

Due to a Sheriff’s Deputy on another call, two Jefferson Police Officers investigated a one vehicle accident that occurred on M Avenue near the Seven Hills Park. Chad Christopher Louk of Jefferson was not injured but the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado K3500 that is owned by Louk Plumbing Heating and Air-Conditioning of Jefferson sustained major damage. The accident is under investigation at this time.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all  defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
