A reminder to local residents, the Guthrie County Conservation Board’s “Halloween Hike” takes place tomorrow evening in Panora’s Lenon Mill Park at 7pm.
The event is free but pre-registration is required so that the Board can order the right amount of cider and food for participants to enjoy.
Conservation Board Director Joe Hanner says volunteers have been working hard in preparation for this year’s event.
“The Halloween Hike’s comprised of four volunteer individuals or four volunteer groups that picks a subject, you know conservation or natural resource related, and they work up their program (sometimes they dress in costumes) and do the four, 10-minute presentations so there is quite a bit of work involved from the volunteer or the individuals that do the presentations to make all that come together for a really nice public program.”
Hanner says he’s been a part of the Halloween Hike since the late 1980s, and it’s one of his favorite events each year. He also says this is just the second time the event is being held at Lenon Mill Park, and he wants local residents to come out and enjoy the new location.
