Guthrie Co. Iowa DeputyWith all sorts of Halloween activities taking place throughout Guthrie County over the next two weeks, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office wants local residents to remain as safe as possible during the holiday time.

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright has some thoughts for trick-or-treaters in particular.

“As always, trick-or-treaters or the children need to go out and wear bright colors, especially if they cross the street or they walk on the street.  They should try to always use the sidewalks because there is a lot of traffic during trick-or-treat nights in different towns.  They should also go where there is a light on, stay with people that they know and in the neighborhoods they know.  Just be careful.”

Arganbright says he hasn’t experienced any problems with traffic accidents during Halloween time since he’s been the sheriff, but he asks that drivers continue to use caution when entering and exiting towns as there will be kids running around.

Arganbright adds that he hopes all local residents enjoy Halloween, but he hopes they do so in a safe and responsible manner.
