With ADM’s district cross country meet in Winterset now just two days away, both the boys and girls teams are starting to get that itch for competition.
All Tigers’ runners are in the midst of a 10-day layoff between their conference meet and the upcoming district meet, and while the big meet is right around the corner, head coach David Zwank says he’s a big fan of the break in the schedule.
“Some people will view that time differently but I think it’s a time to get people healthy, heal up. We’ll do a couple (more) quality workouts to try and keep some things sharp, but at this point in time of the season conditioning’s not gonna be a huge factor.”
Zwank says he’s kept his runners’ workload lighter than usual the past week, and there is a method to his reasoning.
“We’re just trying to keep the body and the mind fresh and sharp towards getting that best performance out of them at that meet.”
ADM’s boys and girls teams take off at 4pm on Thursday at Winterset. Tune in to Raccoon Valley Radio for those results.
