imagesThe West Central Valley School Board met Wednesday night in regular session and discussed many district items.

The main item addressed was the district’s certified enrollment for 2013-14.  Dr. David Arnold says the district is up .63 students over last year’s total.  While the .63 students might sound odd, Arnold says it’s the way that state calculates “body counts” for each district.

Arnold says those .63 students will generate an additional $3,780 in state financial support for West Central Valley, with the per pupil support for this year valued at $6001.  The district will again receive over $5.5 million dollars in state aid for next school year.

The Board also announced the hiring of the new head boy’s basketball coach at the high school.  Nick Peasley takes over the reigns this season.

The Board also reviewed bids for a new school bus, but will seek an additional bid at the next meeting for a bus without air conditioning.  The Board has yet to receive a bid for a new suburban for the district.

Finally, the Board approved the graduate date for this school year as recommended by senior class leadership.  It is set for Saturday, May 17th of 2014 at 11am.
