Facility improvements in the Perry School District continue to move forward.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben says the middle school gym renovations are in their final stages.

“At this time we have the walls painted, the scoreboards are mounted – and the scoreboards were donated by Raccoon Valley Bank, two brand new scoreboards and they look wonderful, new side baskets are up, the floor is laid and the lines are painted” says Ubben.

However there was a minor setback when they decided the floor didn’t meet their standards.

“We are going to strip and seal the floor again.  We go in and look at the product with CSI, our construction managers, and if we’re not completely satisfied then they come back in and we’re not necessarily completely satisfied so the flooring company said ‘that’s fine, we’ll come back in and seal it again” says Ubben.  “As I reminded some of our board members, our gyms need to last 50 years because the last one has so obviously the people before us did a good job and wanted it to look sharp and go for a long time.”

Bleachers will be delivered late this month and will take a few days to install.  Ubben says they hope students will be able to use the gym for basketball starting November 1st.
