October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Genesis Development provides individuals with disabilities employment opportunities throughout Greene County. On a worldwide scale, Genesis Development not only provides products such as box manufacturing across the country, they also help get people with disabilities jobs that benefit the county.
Development Director Alana Curnyn says she proud of the work services department in the Jefferson location and she states that people have jobs in the Jefferson-Scranton and East Greene School districts, Greene County Community Center, Jefferson City Hall, Jefferson Street Department, Casey’s General Store on Highway 4, American Athletic Incorporated, Camden Apartments, Jefferson Matters, Prairie Skye, Pizza Ranch and Dairy Queen.
Curnyn would like to thank those area businesses for their willingness to provide employment for those with disabilities and others who help with Greene County High School students with jobs at Shopko Hometown, Don’s Ace Hardware, Fareway, Jerry’ Quick Lube and Homestead Coffee and Bakery.
She encourages any business who wants to be a part of the program and give employment opportunities to people with disabilities to contact Kellie Eversole at 386-3017.
