The deadline to apply for a Guthrie County Community Foundation mini grant is just a couple days away.
Local businesses or organizations have until 5pm Monday to send in applications to the foundation if they’re interested in receiving grant monies of up to $5,000 for a project they need help financing.
Guthrie Center City Administrator Laura Imerman is part of the foundation’s Board of Directors, and she says the mini grants are available because the foundation did not give away all of its money during the normal granting process.
“The big difference is a mini grant, the maximum you can get is $5,000 or half of the cost of the project, so if you have a large project you’re not gonna apply for a mini grant, you’re gonna wait and apply next, it’ll probably be March of 2014 will be the next due date. We have done it (the mini grants) before because the state wants to see us give the money out to worthwhile projects our the county, and of course, we want to give them out to worthwhile projects in the county.”
Those interested in sending in a last-minute application should visit www.guthriecenter.com and click on the “GCCF” link, or contact City Hall at 641-332-2190 for more information.
