footballThe ADM Tigers football team heads west to Council Bluffs tonight to take on the 1-3 Lewis Central Titans.

Despite the Titans’ poor record, offensive coordinator Steve Stanley says the ADM coaching staff has been preaching to its players all week that LC is much more talented than its record indicates.

“They’re big, they’re fast.  Like Coach Nelson said last night, I’m sure they’re the best 1-3 team in the state.  Any of the games that they lost, they were in right until the end.  You need to look at the players, look at the speed they have, the size they have, how good of athletes they are.  Do not look at their record because that doesn’t show how good of a team they are for sure.”

Head coach Mike Whisner says the game tonight will likely come down to how well his offensive linemen can create room for tailback Grant Goeden to do some damage.  Goeden had just 38 yards on 16 carries last week against Creston, after gashing Glenwood for over 200 yards the week prior.

“I really believe it starts up front with the lineman.  When they can block like they did the last two minutes (against Creston), then they can do that the whole game.  We can’t take plays off, gotta work as a group and I think they can do that.  It’s just (having) a mindset that ‘we’re gonna take care of it’.  I think the guys know that they need to improve, and that’s what we work on each week.  I think it starts with the offensive line–that’s where you get the rushing yards.  And keeping them from hurrying the quarterback will be key.”

A win would be the fourth in a row for the Tigers, and would also move their record in district play to an unbeaten 3-0.  Tune in to pregame at 7 o’clock and kick-off at 7:30 on 107.9FM, KKRF.
