Greene County head football coach Dean Lansman is confident his young team will be ready to play tonight when they visit Red Oak (1-2, 1-0) in a Class 2A District 8 contest. The Rams were stunned in the closing seconds last Friday in Jefferson when they lost 19-15 to Shenandoah, while Red Oak won for the first time this season on Friday by downing OA-BCIG in Ida Grove by a 20-7 score. The Tigers had no turnovers and ran the ball 66 of 69 plays while the Falcons suffered five turnovers.
Coach Lansman said the Rams had a good week of practice and he’s seen improvement each week and expects the trend to continue this week. Penalties have been a major issue for Greene County with 31 accepted penalties in three games. The coach said that’s an area he expects to see improvement in tonight if the Rams (0-3, 0-1) are to get their first win of the season.
