world raceA young Perry woman is preparing to embark on a unique journey that will bring her across the world.

Amanda Finneseth will depart on an 11 month, 11 country mission trip in January where she will help communities Central America, Africa and Asia with a variety of needs.

“Every county will be different.  It kind of depends on the needs in that particular country, so in Asia let’s say… there’s a lot of human trafficking.  So I know that I will probably be working with children and women who have been human trafficked unfortunately.  So it just kind of depends.  In other countries I might be working at orphanages, helping to rebuild homes, just walking down the streets and kind of emerging ourselves in the community and seeing where the need is in that particular country” says Finneseth.

She says she’s always been passionate about traveling and helping residents in third world countries and she was eager to jump on board after hearing about this opportunity.

“I think it’s important because I think we need to realize there’s a bigger world out there and to be exposed to those things so we can truly have compassion for other people” says Finneseth.  “The typical American lifestyle is very different from what I’m going to see in Africa, or Asia or Central America.  And to just get a greater understanding of how other people live and to just have Godly compassion for them and help them to increase their standard of life.”

Right now, Finneseth is collecting donations for the trip.  In total, she must raise $15,500 by July 1st, with the first fundraising deadline approaching next week.
