Perry area residents will be walking for a good cause this weekend.
The annual CROP Hunger Walk takes place Sunday afternoon. There are three different routes participants and join in on, a 2 mile walk, 3 mile walk or 12 mile bike ride to Dawson.
CROP Hunger Walks take place in communities across the country each year. The event began in North Dakota in 1969 and today there are more than 1,600 walks each year.
Perry’s goal is to have 100 walkers this year and each participant is asked to bring at least one non-perishable food item for the Perry Food Pantry.
The walk starts in the north parking lot of Dallas County Hospital at 1pm and ends at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church where participants will be able to celebrate with a hot dog and hamburger lunch, along with games and music.
