The City of Perry got a late start on construction season this year due to RAGBRAI and other big summer events, but next year will be quite different.

Projects like the hot mix asphalt improvement project likely won’t get fully completed this year because bids came in historically high.  City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says the material costs were higher than the City’s engineer had ever seen before.

Niebuhr says the city may still look to complete some of the necessary projects this fall because areas are in such poor shape it would be difficult to clean snow off of them but the spring looks to be a busy time for construction.  He says they hope to have the majority of the construction done by July and August next year.
