Thursday, September 12th

A deputy was asked to meet with a Grand Junction Municipal Light and Power employee about the discovered theft of electricity. The theft is under investigation by the sheriff’s office at this time.

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle on U Avenue just north of 240th Street. A 24 hour tag for removal was placed on the car.

A deputy was advised by a Scranton resident that she has smelled smoke for the past several days and is not able to determine the origin.

A deputy was dispatched to Grand Junction for a reported burglary and theft of electronic equipment in the 400 block of 11th Street South.

A deputy was asked to intervene and help resolve a family dispute in Grand Junction.

A deputy was dispatched to a domestic dispute in Churdan. The deputy was able to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the situation.

Friday, September 13th

A deputy, the Chief Deputy Sheriff and the Sheriff responded to a call from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office to help assist with securing the town of Rockwell City after a veteran police officer was shot while on duty.

A deputy was advised of a dog in Churdan that had dug under the fence of a neighbor and had damaged his flower bed. The owner of the dog was notified and agreed to pay any damages to the neighbor’s yard.

A deputy checked the report of a brush fire in Grand Junction. The fire was extinguished upon the deputy’s arrival.

A deputy while on routine patrol found a calf on the roadway near 295th Street and R Avenue. The deputy returned the calf to the pasture.

A deputy was unable to locate several pickup trucks that were reported to be driving in an erratic and careless manner on N Avenue north of Jefferson.

A deputy checked the report of gunshots being heard in the 300 block of 7th Street in Grand Junction. The deputy was not able to determine the source of the reported gunshots.

A deputy was unable to locate a reported suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of East Hager in Grand Junction.

Saturday, September 14th

A deputy is trying to determine the driver of a 2000 Ford Mustang that is owned by Scott James Sievers of Jefferson, that was involved in a single vehicle accident on Main Street and State Street in Paton in the early morning hours of Saturday. The vehicle was damaged when it struck the side of the Paton Library and the building to the west of the library. The accident is under investigation by the sheriff’s office at this time.

A deputy spoke with a Scranton resident about a civil issue concerning her personal property.

Two deputy’s checked a residential alarm activation in the 200 block of H Avenue. The deputy’s found the house to be secure upon their arrival.

A deputy was called to the 600 block of South 15th Street in Grand Junction to help a family with an out of control juvenile male.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1600 block of T Avenue for a reported burglary and theft of personal property items. The theft is under investigation at this time.

A deputy was asked to help with an unruly juvenile male in the 600 block of 16th Street in Grand Junction. The Department of Human Services was contacted about the incident and will be conducting follow up on the case Monday.

A deputy was advised of a reported bonfire in the 800 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction. The resident at that location was advised of the county wide burn ban but that her small contained camp fire was permitted as long as it was monitored.

Two deputies’ checked the report of careless driving on Highway 30 west of Beaver after the Iowa, Iowa State football game. Many citations were issued for speeding during that time period.

Sunday, September 15th

A deputy, the chief deputy sheriff and several Boone County Deputies checked the 2400 block of 180th Street for the report of an underage drinking party. No one was found upon the deputy’s arrival.

A deputy checked several unoccupied vehicles along the roadway on N Avenue north of Jefferson. It was determined that the cars belonged to 4-H club members that were conducting ditch cleanup along the roadway.

A deputy checked the report of 4 mopeds being operated near the roadway in the 500 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton. The deputy was not able to find the mopeds upon his arrival.

A deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of M Avenue for a reported verbal dispute between a mother and her daughter. The altercation was resolved in a peaceful manner.

A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with 3 juveniles that were reported to be consuming alcohol in the park. The investigation resulted in the arrest of one juvenile male for a minor in possession.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all  defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
